LSU Fires Les Miles

LSU Fires Les Miles

Should Les Miles should have been FIRED?

LSU head coach Les Miles has been fired after just 4 games into his 12th season with the Tigers. The decision was announced after a sluggish 2-2 start and shocking losses to two teams LSU was favored in. Miles, who has coached LSU since 2005, leaves with a 114-34 overall record and a national title won in 2007. Since the start of the 2013, LSU has gone 15-11 against SEC opponents, and after his last second loss to Auburn, that was the final nail in the coffin.

So where does LSU go from here? They're promoting Louisiana native, Ed Orgeron, as the interim head coach. He's knows nationally and locally as a renowned recruiter and comes in with experience as previous head of Ole Miss and USC. Already, the players have noticed a difference in practice with the fiery new coach as his temperament and demeanor comes across as a different style for this team.

As if LSU football wasn't exciting enough with Les Miles before, it will be even more fascinating to see what happens now and what will be next for Tiger Nation. My guess, Ed Orgeron will have this team fired up to hit the restart button and have a fresh start to disappointing start of the season. The next tough decision will be where do we go from here at the end of the year if Ed does as expected with this team that he's lighting a fire under? Should they keep him or bring in another big name? That decision will be a little tougher than the one they just made with letting go a coach that was letting a program slip after continuous top 5 recruiting classes year in and year out.

As for Les Miles, his coaching days aren't over. And let's not get too carried away, he's not a bad coach. He's a good coach, just not a great coach. A perfect marriage for Les and whichever school hires him next should be one without as high expectations. How about Tulane? They'd love to go to the Outback Bowl or Capital One bowl every year and have just 2 or 3 losses every year.Image title
